Alke Voskamp
I have a keen interest in global species conservation and especially in species response to environmental change. My PhD research focuses on evaluating species risk under climate change on a global scale and the development of optimised solutions. I am developing Species Distribution Models (SDM) for the world’s birds and mammals, aiming to integrate species’ biological traits as well as land-use scenarios to produce more realistic scenarios of future species assemblages. Prior to my studies in Durham, I got my BSc in Wildlife Management at the Van Hall Larenstein Institute in Leeuwarden, The Netherlands. In my final dissertation I focused on the identification of suitable habitat for Giant clams (Tridacna maxima) around Koh Tao, Thailand. For my MSc dissertation I conducted fieldwork in Java, Indonesia to investigate the distribution and habitat preferences of the Javan slow loris (Nycticebus javanicus) to support future conservation actions.
