We are thrilled to share two fantastic updates about our current MRes Student, Charlotte Sharpe.

Firstly, Charlotte has been working hard to publish her undergraduate research and we are delighted to announce that this week, Ecology and Evolution have published the paper. Her research explores the question: 'Can Predation Pressure Help Explain the Curious Evolution of Ballistic Seed Dispersal?', and you can read the paper here to find out more.

Secondly, Charlotte has successfully secured a PhD position and will continue her research journey here with CEG! The PhD is part of the new NETGAIN DFA and will focus on nature markets and their contributions to meeting biodiversity commitments.  

We are so pleased that Charlotte will be staying with CEG for a few more years and look forward to seeing all she achieves in the future. Congratulations Charlotte! 

CEG has welcomed a number of new 'CEGgers' in the 2024/2025 academic year recently!

We are pleased to welcome Rachel Dobson back to Durham for her post-doc position on the impacts of climate and land-use change on Key Biodiversity Areas in Ecuador. 

Welcome also to our new PhD students: 

Emma Hill previously studied at Newcastle University and is starting a project looking at European Starling (Sturnus vulgaris) migration with Christine, Steve and Phil. 

Faezeh Fatemizadeh graduated in environmental science from the University of Tehran and has joined us to investigate the potential impacts of changes in climate and land use on rare breeding bird species in Britain with Steve and the UK Rare Breeding Birds Panel. 

Keiron Young will be researching the occupancy and density of the badger (Meles meles) in the UK with Phil.

We are also pleased to welcome Andrew Doyle to the group, who is working towards an MRes in Pied Flycatcher (Ficedula hypoleuca) migration with Christine.
